The Bible is our only authority on this subject. The world tells us we are a result of a cosmic explosion. Which means we have no purpose. The Bible teaches we are God’s creation and He created us to love Him to serve Him and to fellowship with Him. And In Genesis we are told that Adam the first man disobeyed God and Sin entered into the world. And the results of Adam’s disobedience are felt today. The curse has fallen on the earth. Humans are now born with a corrupted nature. Humans left to themselves choose sin. Romans 3:23: “ For all have sinned”.. And every man and every woman are born sinners. We were created to love God with all our hearts and with all of our soul and with all our mind. But sin got in the way. And Sin has a Punishment. Romans 6:23: “The wages of Sin is death”.. God is Holy and just so Sin must be paid for. People die and because of sin they go to Hell for eternity. God is Holy and Justice and sin Must be punished.

The Bible says all of those who believe in Jesus have eternal life. Not simply believing in the existence of Jesus-that is a historical fact. But believe that Jesus was who He said He was, God’s Son and that He died for your sins, rose on the third day, and is alive in Heaven. That is called the Gospel. So what do we have to do to be saved? Believe and repent. Repentance is a turning from what you think is right, and also turning from your sin, your self-righteousness, to a total dependance on Jesus and His righteousness. The Bible records in Romans 10:9: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” It tells us we must believe in His position, He is Lord and also believe in what He has done. He paid for your sins. He arose from the dead three days later. And it mentions not belief in your head, but in your heart. So if you believe this in your heart the Bible says you will be saved.

God’s command is to love the Lord with all your heart and soul and mind. But a person born under the curse does not have the ability to fulfill this command. But Jesus said in Luke 19:10 “ For the Son of Man (Jesus) is come to seek and to save that which was lost. We did not have the ability to love God and serve God, but Jesus has come to save what was lost. What was lost? In the beginning of creation man enjoyed fellowship with God. But man rebelled against God by disobedience and lost the ability to fellowship with God. So God sent His Son Jesus to Restore man through the shedding of His blood on the cross. And then giving the Spirit to all those who believe. Which empowers fallen men to understand Gods ways and to have the desire for the ways of God. So being saved means we now have the ability to love God to serve God and to share the privilege of fellowshipping with God now and for ever.

God is owner of all things and in charge of all things. He makes the rules and enforces the rules. So all humans are guilty before God. God wanted people to love Him and serve Him but people choose to serve and love other things, which has condemned them to hell. The story does not end there. God in His perfect plan sent His son Jesus to pay for sin. John 3:16: “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” God who is just is also Merciful. He makes away for Man to be reconciled and forgiven. God could not just wipe away the record that would make Him unjust. So God sent His Son Jesus to make full payment. So there is hope. It Is found in Jesus. God has made a way.
